Discover Bagrationi 1882 Sparkling Wines from the Country of Georgia

Bagrationi 1882 is pleased to present, for the first time in the U.S., unique sparkling wines from the very place where winemaking was born, the country of Georgia. With this introduction, American wine enthusiasts can now enjoy the favorite sparkling wine from the world’s oldest wine growing region . . . the country of Georgia.
The country of Georgia has the oldest wine-producing region in the world, with a history dating back over 7,000 years - longer than the wine growing regions of France, Italy, and Spain combined. With over 500 unique grape varietals, Georgia has some of the world’s most ancient vines and a tradition for producing superior quality wines. Bagrationi 1882 is introducing American consumers to sparkling wine steeped in history, tradition, and Old World culture.
With 80% of the domestic market share in the country of Georgia, Bagrationi 1882 has had a distinguished wine history. Bagrationi 1882 dates back to the era of Georgian Prince Ivane Bagrationi-Mukhraneli who began producing sparkling wine using the classic bottle fermentation method. New production technology enables Bagrationi 1882 to employ both the Methodé Traditionelle, originally developed for the production of fine champagne, and the Method Charmat to create a range of sparkling wines perfect for a broad range of drinking occasions, palates, and price points.
The success of Georgia’s wine growing region can be attributed to a variety of factors including its ideal climate for growing numerous varietals. Georgia’s geographic location shares the same latitude as Southern France, Central Italy, Northern Spain and Northern California known as the “sweet spot” for growing the world’s best grapes.
The region where the Bagrationi 1882 wine grapes are grown has abundant rich, alluvial soils which are constantly fed by water run-off from the Caucasus Mountains just to the north of Bagrationi’s historic vineyards. The Bagrationi 1882 vineyards are located in the Kartli, Imereti and Kakheti regions of Georgia. Ideal growing conditions are enhanced by Georgia’s dry and temperate climate, with warm sunny days and cool nights.
Bagrationi offers a portfolio of sparkling wines from a unique and previously undiscovered terroir, allowing consumers the opportunity to discover and experience wines from a part of the world most have virtually no knowledge about. The sparkling wines in the Bagrationi 1882 portfolio are sourced from Georgia’s own grape varietals including the rare Chinebuli from the Kartli region, along with Mtsvane and Tsitska grapes which come from the Imereti and Kakheti regions.
