Bang for the buck sparklers

If there’s but one occasion during the holiday season that deserves celebrating with sparkling wine, it’s ringing in the New Year.

Traditionally, New Year’s Eve is a time to reflect on the year gone by — maybe even shout “Good riddance” to a year like ’09 that saw a lot of people grapple with the economy — and look ahead to new opportunities and challenges in 2010.

On Tuesday, December 1, Holiday Hob Nob on the Hill® celebrated its 21st year as the major fundraising event for Saint Francis Memorial Hospital (SFMH) and the inaugural event of San Francisco’s busy holiday calendar. Bagrationi 1882 was honored to contribute to the very worthy event by serving Bagrationi 1882 Reserve Brut and the Bagrationi 1882 Classic Extra Dry sparkling wines to more than 400 guests at San Francisco’s historic Fairmont Hotel.

First Sparkling Wine from World’s Oldest Wine Region Now Available to American Wine Consumers

Bagrationi 1882, a historic sparkling wine producer from the country of Georgia in the Black Sea region of Eastern Europe, has announced its entrance into the U.S. wine market.

Bagrationi 1882 is the best known of Georgian (country, not the state) sparkling wine makers. It used to be that Russia imported a lot of it. But that nasty little war last summer put an end to Russian imports from Georgia, and Bagrationi is now aggressively developing new markets, including the US beginning this year. That’s all to the benefit of the US consumer, who now has the opportunity to taste what most Russians would still like to be drinking.
