Plan your celebration

wineparty Let us help you entertain your guests the Georgian way.  Learn to be the Tamada at your next special event.  The Tamada is similar to a “master of ceremonies” and sets the tone of the feast.  If you are lucky to be an invited to a Georgian celebration hosted by a Tamada jump at the opportunity, it is a performance you won’t want to miss. The Tamada acts as a director of the party and makes exceptional toasts to peace, health, happiness, and expresses a passionate message for the honored guest(s).
Georgians are famous for their hospitality. Guests are greeted warmly and can expect a friendly generous evening of entertainment.  All Georgian events generally include a Tamada who hosts memorable events that include weddings, birthdays, housewarmings, or holidays.
There are many traditions associated with wine.  The Tamada will often select the wine and bless the hosts wishing them with many fruitful harvests.  He then will welcome all that are gathered and will make another toast to peace at which point each participant stands and toasts to peace as well.  The rest of the toasts may honor the hostess, the country, mothers, all that have passed away, life, love, a birth, etc.  Toastmasters are known to be eloquent, intelligent, smart, sharp-witted and quick thinking.
The Tamada should have a good feel for the mood of the “Supra” known as the Georgian table.  The Supra is a way of socializing with friends and family and should have warmth, abundance and unity, which is the responsibility of the Tamada.  Georgia is well known for its rich folklore, unique traditional music, theatre, political discussion and art, all of which may find its way to the Tamada’s table.  Georgian cuisine and wine have evolved through the centuries, adapting traditions in each era.  Various historical regions of Georgia are known for their particular dishes with influence from Russia, Greece and Turkey.
Once the evening has come to an end, the Tamada proposes a toast to the Saints patronizing the Georgian people.   Finally, the guests toast the Tamada in appreciation and thanks.  A Georgian celebration is one to have lasting memories.
Gaurmarjos!  Cheers!
